Seminar on “Modern Trends in Port Engineering”
In Collaboration with King Abdulaziz University and the Saudi Arabian Society for Civil Engineers
A specialized seminar titled “Modern Trends in Port Engineering” was successfully held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Intercontinental Jeddah Hotel – Sultan Hall. The event was organized in collaboration with King Abdulaziz University and the Saudi Arabian Society for Civil Engineers (SASCE).
The seminar aimed to shed light on the nature of marine works and port engineering, as well as the modern technologies that contribute to the advancement of port infrastructure. Discussions also addressed emerging industries that support port operations, with a particular focus on the localization of new manufacturing sectors within the Kingdom, such as the production of floating platforms and navigational aids for port entrances, in addition to the manufacturing of dredging equipment—a field of critical importance for ensuring safe navigation within and outside port boundaries.
The event was attended by members of the Saudi Society for Civil Engineers, faculty members from the College of Engineering at King Abdulaziz University, and representatives from numerous specialized port authorities and contracting companies.
The seminar concluded with several positive outcomes, most notably the establishment of a strategic cooperation protocol between King Abdulaziz University and the participating companies to enhance collaboration in port-related projects in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
Additionally, an agreement was reached with the Saudi Society for Civil Engineers to participate in specialized training programs
covering key areas such as marine works, port construction, dredging operations, and the manufacturing of floating platforms.
In conclusion, engineers from the Private Canal Company for Ports and the Modern APEX Company for Marine Engineering and Contracting, along with representatives from King Abdulaziz University and the Saudi Arabian Society for Civil Engineers, were honored for their active participation and valuable contributions to the success of this distinguished seminar.
